Living Breathing S.A.I.N.T.s

At Our Lady of Perpetual Help we strive to live out our Student Learning Expectations (SLEs) by being S.A.I.N.T.s

We are:
Spiritually Active Christians
Accountable Citizens
Independent Thinkers
Noteworthy Learners
Thoughtful Choicemakers

We talk about this often, but I think it is important to acknowledge when we recognize our fellow classmates, teachers, principals, staff and ourselves, living out our SLEs. Your assignment, for the following year is to post a bi-weekly (every other week) blog entry, sharing a person or a situation that you think fits one of our SLEs.

By the end of the year, you should have found and shared two examples of each of the SLEs and their subheadings (can be found in the Student/Parent handbook and posted throughout the school and classroom).

It is important not to publish information about other students without their consent, so please do not use real names or give away any personal information.

I am looking forward to reading all of your posts and hope that you enjoy getting a chance to see what your classmates saw and shared as well.

  1. Ms. Stella,

Yesterday I saw a great example of an Accountable Citizen who takes responsibility for their own actions.

We were outside playing and "Larry" was playing while he had a soda can in his hand (even though we can't do that) and he spilled it on the back of Ms. J. She didn't notice!! We were all scared that she would get angry and I could tell that "Larry" didn't want to tell her.

He started to walk away, and then it was like someone hit him on the head because he turned around. He walked up to her and told her what had happened. He was starting to cry and was really sorry. She was nice. She asked him to get her a paper towel that was damp and bring it to her.

I think I would have been too scared to do that. He was brave and responsible. I just though you should hear about that

    Sincerely,
    Student #21

  2. Dear Ms. Stella

I thought you should know that I had the choice to go to a birthday party this weekend, but after our class talk on making an effort, I decided to stay home and study my Social Studies.
My mom helped me by using the study guide to quiz me.

I was sad on Monday when I heard about all of the fun everyone had, but I didn't care any more when I got my test back and I had an A! That is the first one all year. My mom is so excited.

I hope I can still go to parties with my friends, but now I know that being a NOTEWORTHY LEARNER that strives to achieve academic excellence in all subjects is worth it!

I hope that you are as happy as I am about this!

    From

  3. Great Job on your assignment. It was well thought out. I like how you included that fact that you made it clear that the students would do a blog bi-weekly and included that they share their SLE's. Good Job. Dirk Van Stralen
